Cancer Survivorship Celebration set for Nov. 1
October 22, 2015 | Dagny Stuart
Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC), in partnership with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, is hosting the 2015 Cancer Survivorship Celebration Sunday, Nov. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Student Life Center.
The theme for this year’s event is “Survivors Rock” and to underscore this musical thesis the entertainment will be provided by the band “Soul Incision,” featuring rock and roll tunes by talented musicians who also happen to work at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The free event is open to cancer patients, families, friends and those who provide care to cancer patients, no matter where that care is provided. All ages are welcome.
Several community partner organizations are participating and will be sharing information about services and resources available to patients and families. Light snacks will be provided and free valet parking is available.
“We’re delighted to provide this opportunity for cancer patients and those who care for them to celebrate survivorship. Each day in this journey is a gift to be savored and we are honored to host this annual day of celebration,” said Anne Washburn, MPH, associate director of Community Outreach, Education, and Affiliations at VICC.
To reserve a seat, please RSVP by Oct. 27 by visiting www.vanderbiltsurvivorsday.org or call 615-875-9313.
