    Commission on Cancer Recognizes Vanderbilt for Outstanding Care

    Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center have received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). The award recognizes cancer programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients, and was granted following an on-site inspection of the cancer program by a physician surveyor in 2009.

    New Campaign Highlights VICC’s Role As NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center

    With the launch of a new streamlined call center and the near-completion of a major expansion and renovation of its Henry-Joyce Cancer Clinic, the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center has embarked on its first advertising campaign in nine years. The campaign’s goal is to assure that more residents of Middle Tennessee are aware of the special resource they have in Vanderbilt-Ingram as a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute — one of only 40 in the United States and the only one in Tennessee that treats patients of all ages, with all cancer types.

    You Can Help Make Medical Advances Possible

    The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is joining with national and local partners to offer AWARE for All – Nashville Clinical Research Education Day on Saturday, Feb. 20.

    This event, which is free and open to the public, is believed to be the first community-wide event designed to inform Middle Tennessee residents about the important role that they can play in making medical advances possible and to celebrate the contributions of clinical research participants in moving science forward.

    SU2C Innovator Grants Fund Big, Bold Ideas

    William Pao, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Medicine, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, has been awarded a grant from Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) to study molecules that could speed up the search for new cancer drugs and targets.
